The Rastrelli Cello Quartet started in 2002 when Kira Kraftzoff got the group together to make new and interesting music. The quartet is named after the 18th century Russian architect, Bartholomew Rastrelli. Bartholomew Rastrelli was from St. Petersburg, where three of the quartet's members were born. This connection led to a well-blended team of highly skilled cellists. Bringing energy and excitement to classical music, the quartet became famous and highly honored very early in its career.
